Some people are in this world to share their smiles, and Julie Case is definitely one of them.
The gift of her smile has been one of the brightest moments for Skydive Saratoga. Anyone who has spent even a few minutes around Julie quickly understands that her positivity is contagious. Even before the jump, her energy fills the drop zone. And somehow, when she lands, that smile seems brighter than before.
Skydiving: Catharsis in the Clouds
Julie is convinced skydiving has helped her battle the esophageal cancer she was diagnosed with more than three years ago. While treatments, doctor visits, and uncertainty became part of her everyday life, she found something unexpected in the sky: a moment of freedom.
Two years into her sickness, she decided to cross an item off her bucket list: skydiving. Little did she expect that something like jumping from airplanes would be a major turning point in her life and the way she walked through her sickness.
In skydiving she found what every cancer patient really needs. A moment to experience life at its highest.
“The beauty of this world is remarkable,” Julie said.
The feeling of wellness skydiving gave her kept bringing her back again, and again, and again.
“Skydiving is so refreshing to me. It’s definitely like therapy to me. A therapy in the sky,” Julie said.
A Loved Member of Our Community
“I want everybody to realize how amazing she really is. She’s definitely touched us.”
These words express how much affection Skydive Saratoga’s owner, Rachelle, has for Julie.
Rachelle remembers how Julie came for that first time, May 25th, 2024. She was all smiles. She arrived with a smile, she boarded the plane with a smile, she jumped into freefall with a smile, and when she landed, her smile was even bigger than before.
Since that day, Julie kept coming to jump. Fifty jumps later, it is fair to say she became part of the drop zone. Julie is now family.

A Reminder of What Matters
Julie came to Skydive Saratoga for a jump, but she ended up giving us a great life lesson.
Life might throw some difficult challenges at us, but it is up to us to choose how we fight back. Julie chose to fight from 9,000 ft above the ground.
She chose to open those plane doors and forget about all her stress and worries.
She chose to float during freefall and have no care in the world.
She chose to see the remarkable beauty of this world from the canopy flight.

“I honestly think with my whole heart that skydiving is helping me get through this cancer. If I didn’t have skydiving, I really don’t know where I would be today,” Julie said.
Skydive Saratoga helped Julie drop her stress while she continued treatment; but Julie helped us understand that our business is about more than just skydiving.
Skydive Saratoga is about giving people the chance to leave all their worries on the ground and giving them six minutes of perspective. Six minutes to realize that life is meant to be lived. At its fullest.
With love to Julie,
Skydive Saratoga team
